About
Hi, My Name is Frank Douwes, this blog was started to communicate with family and friends while I’m in Africa. I’ll be traveling through Tanzania, Malawi, Namibia and South Africa for 70 days, from january 28th till april 6th of 2008.
I’ll be part of the media team documenting the Virus Free Generation Hip-Hop Tour, in which 5 european rappers/hip-hop artists team up with 5 African artists to give workshops to kids / young women and record songs about HIV/AIDS.
My job will consist of editing the footage shot a team of documentary film makers, as small clips called “webisodes” which will be uploaded every 3 days on the virus free generation website and YouTube, I’ll also be taking pictures, getting the artists to write blog posts and uploading the newly recorded songs.
The project is meant to inform and mobilize the europea youth to take action against HIV/AIDS and create a virus free world by 2015. sign the petition at www.virusfreegeneration.eu
This is my personal blog which isn’t part of the project. I hope you’ll enjoy reading it, feel free to leave comments or mail me at f.douwes[at]home.nl
